About Us
Sara Adams, Psychologist
Sara is the Director and Registered Psychologist at East Maitland Holistic Psychology Clinic. She has been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 20 years. In addition to running her private practice, Sara is currently providing treatment to individuals, couples, families and groups. She also has experience in delivering psycho-education and therapeutic group treatment to in-patients and outpatients at Maitland Private Hospital.
Sara is experienced in working with stress related issues, depression, anxiety, social phobia, self-esteem issues, PTSD, complex childhood trauma, family and relationship issues. Sara enjoys working with individuals, couples and groups of all ages.
Sara’s work is eclectic. She is trained and skilled in using various treatment therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (“CBT”), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (“ACT”), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (“DBT”), Mindfulness/Relaxation, Eye Movement Desensitisation Re-Processing (“EMDR”), Schema Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Sara is passionate about helping others find a way of living a more rewarding and meaningful life.
Robert Kilkelly, Clinical Psychologist, Board- Approved Supervisor
Robert completed a Bachelor of Psychology in 2014 and a Master of Clinical Psychology in 2024 at the University of Newcastle.
He has experience working therapeutically with a diverse range of clients, including adults, adolescents, and children, across both public mental health settings, the NDIS, and private practice. Robert currently works with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Robert has experience supporting individuals across a broad range of mental health presentations, including but not limited to stress, depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma and PTSD, as well as relationship and interpersonal difficulties. He is comfortable working with complex and co-occurring presentations and tailors treatment to meet the individual needs of each client.
Robert draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based interventions.
In addition to his clinical work, Robert provides supervision to:
- Provisional psychologists completing the 5+1 registration pathway or undertaking work in addition to placements
- Early career psychologists
- Mental health practitioners
Robert is passionate about supporting clients to make meaningful changes, build resilience, and develop the skills needed to navigate challenges and enhance their quality of life.
Emma Parsons, Psychologist
Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) in 2019 from Western Sydney University. Emma is passionate about helping people achieve their personal goals and improve their overall lives. Emma takes a compassionate, non-judgmental, and person-centred approach to treatment and works with clients to achieve their therapy goals. She has experience working with a range of presentations including trauma, depression, anxiety, panic, relationship issues, addiction, eating disorders, neurodiversity and self-esteem issues.
Emma believes in a personalised and holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing, focusing on the whole person. Emma incorporates evidence-based interventions most suited to clients’ individual needs including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Self-Compassion, Schema Therapy, Enhanced CBT (CBT-E) and trauma-informed therapy.
Emma enjoys working with adults and older adolescents (16+). Emma works with individuals and couples.
NOTE:
Emma will be commencing maternity leave in early October. If you wish to commence and/or continue treatment with Emma, we recommend scheduling at least three sessions between now and then to ensure continuity of care.
Amie, Administration Officer
Amie has experience in both psychology practice and paramedicine. She combines strong administrative expertise with a practical understanding of healthcare environments. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, reading, and spending time with family.
Ella, Administration Officer
Ella is currently studying nursing at Newcastle University. Ella enjoys going for walks with her crazy border collie, reading books on the beach and going out for coffee.
Celeste, Administration Assistant
Celeste is highly motivated with extensive secretarial experience. She loves spending time with her family & friends, playing tennis & walking her dog.
Robert Kilkelly, Psychologist
Robert graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Newcastle in 2014 and is currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology.
Robert has worked therapeutically with a diverse range of people, including adults, children, and adolescents.
He is experienced in working with a range of presentations including depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, and challenging behaviors.
Robert also undertakes a range of psychological assessments including cognitive and learning, Autism and behavioral.
Robert draws from various treatment approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness.
Robert is passionate about helping his clients make changes that will help them face challenging situations and enrich their life.
